Saint Luke’s is the largest medical system in Idaho, and its anti‑gun stance stretches across the entire network.

At the Meridian hospital, a massive sign tells visitors that firearms, knives, and “other weapons” are banned on the property. Apparently we’re supposed to believe criminals will read the sign, nod politely, and leave their weapons outside.

Like most hospitals in Idaho, there is no security at the entrance. So who exactly is obeying this sign? Law‑abiding citizens, the only people these policies actually disarm.

The bottom of the sign reads:

“Thanks for helping us maintain a safe environment for our patients, visitors, and employees.”

But if every responsible Idahoan disarmed before entering, who is safe when a criminal ignores the sign, as they always do, and starts harming patients, visitors, or staff? Are we supposed to hope a lone security guard shows up in time and risks his or her life because the hospital decided your right to self‑defense wasn’t welcome?

No thank you.

Idaho law does not prohibit carrying a firearm in a hospital. If staff discover you’re carrying, they can trespass you, but simply walking in armed is not illegal.

Gun owners deserve to know which institutions still cling to the failed fantasy of “Gun‑Free Zones.”
