The Mountain View Hospital and Idaho Falls Community Hospital share a single main entrance, and both display a “No Weapons” sign as you walk in.

We couldn’t locate any posted firearm policy online for either hospital. Most hospitals in Idaho rely on the same generic signage: “No Weapons.” Criminals have ignored these signs for decades, but gun owners deserve to know which institutions still cling to the fantasy of a “Gun‑Free Zone.”

Unlike restaurants, retail stores, or other businesses where gun owners can take their money elsewhere, hospitals are one of the few places where every facility posts the same anti‑gun signs. Choice is limited, but your rights don’t disappear.

In Idaho, these signs do not carry the weight of law. Carrying a firearm for self‑defense inside a hospital is not a crime. If a staff member notices you’re carrying and asks you to leave, you must leave or risk a trespass charge, but simply walking in while armed is not illegal.

Hospitals can post whatever signs they want. Gun owners can stay informed and push back against the idea that disarming the public somehow makes anyone safer.
