Lisa Sanchez, the former Boise City Councilmember known for her anti-gun rhetoric and controversial views on race, is running for city council again.
Sanchez is arguably one of the most far-left candidates Boise has ever seen. Her policy positions and worldview seem far more suited to Seattle or Portland than to Idaho.
But it’s her anti-gun stance that has consistently drawn attention—and concern—from Boise residents.
In 2022, during a city council meeting supporting Mayor Lauren McLean’s anti-gun resolution, Sanchez made this jaw-dropping statement:
“It’s difficult for me to believe that these gun rights laws are for everyone. They’re not. They’re for white people; specifically for white men. And, uh, as long as we keep making room for guns, we are supporting white supremacy in our country, and it’s a shame, that a state like Idaho, has become synonymous with that kind of sentiment.”
Seriously? There are countless Americans of every race who exercise their Second Amendment rights.
The irony here is thick: gun control laws have historically been used to disarm minority communities, while Second Amendment advocates consistently fight against the very restrictions that would harm them.
And Sanchez didn’t stop there. Back in 2020, she took another swing at gun owners—this time claiming that open carry is racist.
“Open carry is a legal way for white supremacists to intimidate the rest of us.”
This kind of delusional, racially charged rhetoric might be expected in ultra-liberal enclaves—but seeing it in Boise is still shocking.
For longtime observers, Sanchez’s disdain for white people has been a recurring theme. And yes, she’s even blamed white people for her decision not to have children.
This year, three candidates are vying for the District 6 seat:
- Lisa Sanchez
- Jimmy Halliburton (the far-left incumbent)
- Lynn Bradescu
Of the three, Bradescu is the most conservative.
