A new bill, H.R. 4225, introduced by Democrat Congresswoman Madeleine Dean (PA-4th), seeks to force gun owners into so-called “safe storage” requirements.
First, we must remember that gun owners are responsible for themselves, and the government has no legal standing to force you to do anything with your weapons. How you store and handle your firearms is up to you.
H.R. 4225 requires that gun owners lock up their firearms unless they are within arm’s reach, or face fines.
Now, how many gun owners have their self-defense weapon locked up? What’s the point of a self-defense weapon if you can’t get it in time to defend yourself?
This is just another stupid anti-gun bill designed by someone who clearly doesn’t understand firearm ownership.
Oh, and violations could lead to fines and getting your name in the NICS system, which could prevent you from further firearm purchases. This is the same type of issue we have seen in our neighboring states, like Oregon.
Thankfully, this bill won’t get far given the current state of the congressional makeup.

How would congress have any authority to do this anyway? What does this have to do with taxation or interstate commerce?
