The city of Kooskia has officially updated its outdated firearm ordinance, bringing it into compliance with Idaho’s firearm preemption statute.
For years, the Idaho Second Amendment Alliance (ISAA) has worked with cities and counties across the state to ensure local ordinances align with state law. To date, we’ve helped nearly 100 jurisdictions make these important updates.
Last month, ISAA notified Kooskia about an old ordinance that prohibited concealed carry within city limits. The ordinance also banned the discharge of firearms, allowing exceptions for law enforcement but not for citizens acting in lawful self-defense.
We’re pleased to report that Kooskia has removed the concealed carry ban and revised its discharge provisions to reflect state law. The city council’s vote was unanimous.
We extend our sincere thanks to the mayor and city council for their swift action and commitment to upholding Idaho law.
