California Federal Judge: Ban on Non-Resident Carry is Gone

A federal judge in California has issued a permanent injunction on California’s ban on non-resident carry.

The members of the Firearms Policy Coalition brought the case. They argued that it was unconstitutional for the state of California to ban non-residents from applying for carry permits.

Of course, there is only one carry permit (the U.S. Constitution), but we digress.

FPC lauded the decision in a post on X, saying,

“Today, Federal District Court Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo issued a permanent injunction siding with FPC and blocking enforcement of California laws preventing FPC’s members who reside outside of California from acquiring a carry license.”

One would presume the state of California is going to appeal this decision.

There are a number of judges, including smaller panel opinions from the 9th Circuit in recent months, that are far different than what gun owners are used to seeing from California, which perhaps give us hope that the tide is shifting ever so slightly.
