Canyon County Prosecutor Chris Boyd appears to have done his job on a case that might have turned out very differently if it were in Ada County.
Yesterday, Boyd posted a statement about a Nampa man, identified as Ryan Fleming, who was attacked at his home by an individual who was said to be intoxicated and attacked Fleming at his home.
The suspect, identified as Kevin Villalobos, was shot and killed during the attack.
Boyd released a statement after the county decided not to pursue charges, saying,
“This was an unfortunate and tragic event that resulted in the loss of a life, and I extend my sympathies to the family of Mr. Villalobos as they grieve. However, under Idaho law, individuals have an unequivocal right to defend themselves, their families, and their homes from violent attacks. Idaho’s self-defense and ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws are clear: when an individual is faced with an immediate and unlawful threat of serious bodily harm, they are legally justified in using force to protect themselves.
The evidence in this case – including witness statements, forensic analysis, physical evidence, DNA evidence, and video footage, demonstrates that Mr. Fleming acted lawfully. He was violently attacked at his home and responded with justified force. Idaho law presumes that a homeowner acting in defense of their habitation does so with reasonable fear of imminent peril, and my office will not second-guess the fundamental right of self-defense.”
We commend the county and Nampa Police Department on conducting a thorough investigation and concluding that Idaho’s Stand Your Ground and self-defense laws were prevalent in the case.
We only wish that Ada County would have done the same in the Theron Cameron case. If investigators and the prosecutors had done a thorough investigation and taken ten seconds to realize that Theron had acted to defend himself and others, he wouldn’t have wasted so much of his life and savings to defend himself again at trial.
Idahoans need to ensure a case like Theron’s doesn’t happen again, and the way to do that is by passing our Stand Your Ground Immunity and Reimbursement bill into law!

Prosecuting me a 100% handicapped Combat Marine and disabled police officer. Attacked completely on video proving my shoulder was ripped out of its socket with a TBI and he let my attackers off to prosecute me pulling my police sidearm and backing my attackers up. He is asking for 25 to life at my trial next month.
