The Village at Meridian is one of the largest shopping complexes in Idaho, sitting at one of the busiest intersections in the state and home to Idaho’s first In‑N‑Out. It’s a massive draw for Treasure Valley families, and it comes with a massive gun ban.

The Village prohibits both open and concealed carry across the entire campus, meaning roughly 125 stores fall under a blanket weapons ban. While ISAA didn’t check every individual storefront for “no guns” signs, the walking paths include multiple Code of Conduct signs that clearly state the prohibition. The policy applies to the entire property.

Here is the part of the Code of Conduct regarding weapons:

“Possession of any item that could be used as a weapon, including but not limited to:
firearms, explosives, fireworks, clubs or sticks over ¼” in diameter (with the exception of umbrellas or walking canes), chemical dispensing devices, knives with blades over 2″ in length, or any other object(s) that may be used in any way to inflict bodily injury on another person; violating any federal, state, or local law or ordinance.”

It’s unclear whether every business leasing space at The Village knew about the gun ban before signing their contracts. Were they told that customers who are carrying must be removed if noticed? Did they knowingly agree to enforce a California‑style weapons policy in Idaho? Those are questions worth asking.

The Village is owned by CenterCal Properties, a company based in El Segundo, California. So it’s no surprise that a California developer brought California gun restrictions into one of the reddest states in America.

What’s also unclear is how aggressively the ban is enforced. Will each store push it if they notice someone carrying? Or is this another corporate policy that exists on paper but isn’t consistently applied?

For gun owners, the reality is simple: concealed carriers are unlikely to have issues, and these signs do not carry the weight of law in Idaho. However, if staff notice you’re carrying and ask you to leave, refusing could result in a trespass charge. The ban may be corporate nonsense, but trespass laws are real.

This is likely the single largest gun ban in the state, a full campus prohibition covering more than a hundred businesses.
