Democrats Dump Moms Demand Candidate David Roth

The gun‑control group Moms Demand Action endorsed David Roth, making him the only 2026 Idaho candidate to receive their backing. Their endorsement isn’t easy to get; candidates must align with the group’s anti‑Second Amendment positions to qualify.

But Roth won’t be on the ballot after all.

Roth abruptly withdrew from the race after Democrat Party leaders (according to Roth) bailed on him and urged him to step aside. Democrat voters chose Roth in their own primary, yet the party appears to have pushed him out in favor of “Independent” U.S. Senate candidate Todd Achilles.

Roth hasn’t endorsed Achilles and seems understandably frustrated with how his own party treated him.

This raises a simple question: If Democrats claim to care about elections and the will of the people, how does sidelining their own nominee honor the voters who selected him?

Instead of supporting their chosen candidate, party leaders are now backing another left‑wing gun‑control advocate in Achilles. And on the Second Amendment, the difference between Roth and Achilles is basically nonexistent; both candidates are terrible on your right to keep and bear arms.

The odds of either candidate unseating current Republican U.S. Senator Jim Risch are slim, but Democrats appear to be dumping Roth in hopes that Achilles’ phony Independent label will sway moderate Republican voters. It’s a long shot at best.
