Minnesota Looks to Ban Firearms at State Capitol Building

Minnesota is one of about 10 states that do not ban firearms from their state capitol; Idaho is proudly included on that list.

Following the murders of Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband (and the attempted murder of a state senator and his wife) in June,  the Minnesota Advisory Committee on Capitol Security met this week to discuss potential changes to security at the statehouse, including a ban on lawfully carried firearms.

Anti-Second Amendment Governor Tim Walz promoted the idea of banning firearms at the Capitol, Lt Governor Flanagan recommended installing a weapons screening system and bag checks.

Restrictions on personal carry only further prohibit the law-abiding individual from protecting themselves and those in their presence.

The individual with criminal intent does not care about the laws governing the legal carrying of firearms. They certainly don’t care about one security barrier if they intend to harm others.

Any disarmament of the individual violates a God given, constitutionally protected right.
