Eagle’s “No Guns” Sign Violated Idaho Law, Now It’s Gone

The City of Eagle just made the right move, and it’s a win for every gun owner in Idaho.

After ISAA brought attention to a “No Guns” sign posted at a public archery range in Eagle, Mayor Brad Pike worked with the ISAA and ensured correct signage was posted.

Why? Because it violated Idaho’s firearm preemption statute, a law that prevents local governments from creating their own patchwork of gun regulations.

Let me be clear: cities don’t get to make up their own rules when it comes to your Second Amendment rights. That’s why ISAA exists, to hold them accountable.

The new sign now correctly identifies the area as an archery range. No mention of firearm possession.

This may seem like a small change, but it’s a big deal: every sign, every ordinance, every attempt to chip away at our rights matters. And when we push back, we win, like we saw in the Jerome County case recently.

In this case, the city of Eagle was great and worked with the ISAA to make the necessary changes. We appreciate those in the city of Eagle government who helped get it done quickly.

ISAA will continue monitoring local governments across Idaho to ensure they follow the law. If you see something that doesn’t look right, let us know.
