Idaho is one of the most pro‑gun states in America, but that doesn’t mean anti‑gun policies aren’t creeping in through back channels. Increasingly, gun control isn’t coming from the Legislature. It’s coming from HOAs, management companies, and private bureaucracies that think they can impose California‑style rules on Idaho families.
That’s exactly what happened in the Arvory Crest subdivision in Eagle, where the property management company, Keystone Pacific Property Management, emailed homeowners announcing a new ban on firearms in the subdivision’s common areas.
The Idaho Second Amendment Alliance obtained the email, which states:
“Additionally, for the safety and well-being of everyone in our community, weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited at all Arvory Crest community amenities, including but not limited to the pool, clubhouse, playground, pickleball courts and dog parks. This includes firearms, airsoft guns, BB guns/pellet guns, paintball guns, knives, or any other item that could pose a safety risk.”
This language is straight out of the gun‑control playbook: “For the safety and well‑being of everyone…” That’s the same justification used by every city, county, and activist group that wants to disarm law‑abiding citizens. It’s the mentality that says banning guns magically creates safety, even though Idahoans know better.
Some gun owners have asked whether an HOA or management company can legally ban firearms in common areas. Because these areas are privately owned and controlled, the Idaho Supreme Court is likely to say they have the authority to impose such rules, even if they’re misguided, ineffective, and out of step with Idaho values.
Our mission is simple: Idaho gun owners deserve to know where anti‑gun policies exist. If a subdivision, business, or organization chooses to adopt gun‑free‑zone rules, Idahoans should be fully informed before they move in, buy property, or spend their money there.
We will continue exposing anti‑gun policies wherever they appear, whether in government, corporations, or HOAs, so Idaho families can make decisions that align with their rights and values.

He doesn’t care about local HOA or community rules. But, everyone else is defenseless. Every person has a right to protect themselves.
And what happens if a non- resident carries? If you conceal, no one should know. Good luck enforcing! If o lived there, I rent the club house and throw a 2A party
Forget about just the constitution. Eagle is a sanctuary city for second amendment rights. No law can take away our current rights especially not some HOA wanna be. Google it we were the second city in the country to protect our second amendment rights. Star idah was the first.
My previous HOA CC&Rs required a majority vote of the homeowners to impose a new rule because a new rule was considered “changing” the contract (CC&Rs) and changing the contract required everyone to vote not just the board. So, Im wondering if theirs has similar requirements. If so, it might be null & void.
