U.S. Supreme Court Makes Major Decision on Guns and Marijuana Users

The case at the center of today’s video is one that even many Second Amendment commentators didn’t expect to break our way.

In a unanimous 9–0 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that simply being a marijuana user does not automatically strip a person of their right to own a firearm. For years, this issue has been tangled in federal statute, agency interpretation, and political posturing, but the Court made it clear: private, lawful marijuana use in your own home does not erase your Second Amendment rights.

To be clear, this ruling does not mean you should carry a firearm while actively using marijuana or any substance that impairs your judgment. If your mind is altered, whether by a drug, medication, or anything else, you should not be carrying. Responsible gun ownership still matters.

But the idea that millions of Americans should lose a constitutional right because of private marijuana use has always been an overreach. And in this rare moment of unanimity, the Supreme Court agreed.

Bob Brodovsky from Idaho 2A News breaks down exactly what this ruling means and why it matters in the video below.
