Will Pam Bondi Go After Gun Owners Again?

Just over a month ago, President Donald Trump ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to review Federal Policies to determine what infringements occurred during the Biden era.

The request from Trump is hopefully a welcome change from his position on firearms in his first term. In the Executive Order, it said in part,

“examine all orders, regulations, guidance, plans, international agreements, and other actions of executive departments and agencies (agencies) to assess any ongoing infringements of the Second Amendment rights of our citizens, and present a proposed plan of action to the President, through the Domestic Policy Advisor, to protect the Second Amendment rights of all Americans.”

However, despite the deadline for Bondi to do her review, she did not release any information to the public and does not appear to have given anything to Trump because he gave her an extended deadline.

What many gun owners may not know is that Bondi is no friend to the 2nd Amendment. Gun owners should be concerned that she may find “nothing” wrong with anything Biden’s administration did based on her past support for gun control.

For instance, Bondi, the Florida Attorney General at the time, supported the legislature passing Red Flag Gun Confiscation Orders and raising the age limit to purchase firearms from 18 to 21. She expressed a desire for Congress to do something similar.

The Idaho Second Amendment Alliance opposed Bondi becoming Trump’s AG. Sure, maybe she’ll be good on other stuff the way we would want her to be, but gun owners were universally not very happy about the pick.

Some folks may say that “she has to do what Trump tells her to do,” which is sort of true. The problem is that Trump’s record on the Second Amendment isn’t all that great either, and that’s no secret.

Our concern is that Bondi will make no good recommendations to Trump or that the ones she does recommend as a change are nearly meaningless. Or worse, Bondi may recommend more gun control to Trump, and he may go along with it, which is the worst-case scenario and not one completely out of the realm of possibilities.

Hopefully, we are wrong, and Bondi comes out swinging against gun control, but we are not confident at all that she will be an ally for gun owners at a time when we could be reigning in the ATF and repealing the National Firearms Act or the Gun Control Act.
