What is the Idaho Second Amendment Alliance’s mission?
We fight for 100% firearms freedom in Idaho. No compromise. No apologies.
Our mission is to defend the Second Amendment at every level — city, county, state, and federal — and ensure Idaho remains a stronghold for gun rights.
There is no gun group in the state, including national organizations, that fights for gun rights like the ISAA does, and that’s a guarantee.
When and why was the ISAA founded?
The ISAA was launched on August 21, 2012, by Greg Pruett and several of his friends who were tired of politicians talking about being pro-2A on the campaign trail but failing to act. One of the most notable examples was Constitutional Carry, which was already the law in four states, but not in Idaho, where 80% of the legislature was Republican.
We were founded to be a boots-on-the-ground, no-compromise force for gun owners in Idaho. A group for Idahoans, run by Idahoans, with funds raised to help Idaho’s gun owners.
Who runs the organization?
The ISAA is run by its President and Founder, Greg Pruett. Additionally, the ISAA has a dedicated Board of Directors and other advisors, including legal advisors, that continue to guide it into the future and look out for Idaho’s gun owners as they have always done.
How does the ISAA operate day-to-day?
The ISAA is run in its day-to-day operations by its President and Founder, Greg Pruett. His family also helps with the administrative work.
For a detailed explanation and history of the ISAA’s operations, as well as answers to questions about whether the ISAA hires outside help, you can watch this explanation from Mr. Pruett:
Where is the organization based?
We are headquartered in the small town of Rigby (between Idaho Falls and Rexburg); however, our fight to protect gun rights spans the entire state!
From rallies, marches, banquets, and many more, we have traveled the state numerous times, talking to gun owners, meeting with gun owners like you, and exposing politicians all over the state on your behalf.
Is the ISAA affiliated with any political party or religious group?
No. We’re an independent organization and focused solely on defending the Second Amendment. We hold politicians accountable, regardless of their party affiliation. In a state like Idaho, it’s often Republicans who need to be kept in line because Democrats have little power here.
While we do not have any kind of religious affiliation, each ISAA member and those who run the ISAA have their own individual affiliations, and the ISAA recognizes God and God’s importance in the Founding and protection of the United States of America!
How are donations used?
The ISAA has always operated on the theory of “shoe-string” budget, meaning we keep expenses as low as possible so that as much money as we bring in can be used to fight for pro-Second Amendment legislation at the capitol, fight against any forms of gun control, and even more importantly, that we have funds to educate the public on how their elected officials are either standing up for them or not concerning the 2A fight.
We don’t waste money on fluff – we fund the fight, and that’s what our members have done for well over a decade now!
Is the ISAA an IRS-approved nonprofit, and is my donation tax-deductible?
The ISAA is the flagship project of Honor Idaho as of 2026. Honor Idaho is an IRS-approved 501(c)(4) nonprofit. Contributions are unlimited but NOT tax-deductible.
How can I make a donation, set up a recurring payment, or become a member of the ISAA?
You can donate (including monthly) by clicking here and making your donation today!
If you wish to become a member of the ISAA, you can also choose your option at idahosaa.org/memberships. We offer yearly options, as well as a monthly option for those looking to help maintain the ISAA’s operations.
No matter which option you choose, we appreciate your support and recognize that your donation/membership is what keeps the organization running and the fight for gun rights in Idaho alive and well.
Can I get a receipt or donation acknowledgment?
Yes – we provide receipts for all donations and membership contributions.
How long does it take to get my membership gear?
There is no simple answer to this question because it varies depending on the time of year.
The short answer is that we try to ship packages as quickly as possible. Because Mr. Pruett and his family do all the work, there are times of the year, especially during legislative session, when the shipping is much slower than during less busy times of the year.
Our goal is typically no longer than two weeks, but as others will tell you, it sometimes takes longer and sometimes shorter.
Are there non-financial ways to support the cause?
Absolutely. Share our content, contact your legislators when we do advocacy campaigns, and help spread the word. Your voice is powerful, and ISAA members expressing their support or opposition have made massive impacts over the years.
Can I host a fundraiser or event?
Yes – we’d love to support your efforts. Contact Mr. Pruett at [email protected] to share your idea for a fundraiser for the organization.
How do you engage with lawmakers or influence policy?
We mobilize grassroots pressure, testify at hearings, and hold politicians accountable through surveys and public campaigns.
You are the true lobbyists, because at the end of the day, most elected officials only care about winning re-election. That means, the louder you are in their district as their constituent, the more likely they are to hear your voice!
Do you use “form emails” when sending emails to lawmakers regarding legislation or other important information?
Our goal at the ISAA is to mobilize as many gun owners as we can, as fast as we can, and in a way that makes it easy for you to take action.
When we first started, we would have to type out the lawmaker’s email addresses and then hope that you took the time to copy their email and paste a pre-written message into it, or that you would come up with one on your own.
However, this method proved unfruitful for both the ISAA and our supporters.
The ISAA, like every major gun group, uses a program that allows us to send you an email with a link that will find your lawmakers for you, send them a pre-written email (which you can still change if you wish), and then your email is off to your lawmaker within 30 seconds!
Your lawmakers may complain about “form emails” and tell you that they would much rather have a “handwritten note from grandma,” because it “means more to them.”
Of course, they want that handwritten note. Still, the reality is that when your lawmakers receive hundreds of emails from the ISAA, from constituents in their district, it terrifies them more than anything, because it means their constituents are paying attention.
You are always welcome to handwrite a note, send your own email, or call your lawmakers. Just remember, at the end of the day, the ONLY reason they complain about “form” emails, like the NRA, GOA, and every other gun group in the country uses, is because we can mobilize you extremely fast, and politicians hate accountability more than anything!
How can I contact my elected officials about specific causes the ISAA is working on?
Use our Gun Owner Action Center to send emails and petitions directly to your legislators. It’s fast, free, and effective.
Where can I sign up for your newsletter and be added to your list for taking action?
The easiest way to get on our email list is by signing one of our petitions or sending an action item to a lawmaker through our Gun Owner Action Center.
Any one of those things will get you into our email alert system, where you can stay up-to-date on the latest issues the ISAA is working on.
You can opt out of the emails at any time by clicking “Unsubscribe” at the bottom of any of the emails.
Do you accept guest articles or Op-Eds?
Yes. We do accept submissions. The requirements are that the Op-Ed be focused on supporting 2nd Amendment issues and that your name and photo are used for publication. Please send us your Op-Ed in a Word document.
All publications will be reviewed prior to publication.
Your submission can be sent to [email protected].
